General Electrical Service and Sales was founded in the 1920s. It was a local electrical motor repair shop and one of the first businesses to do high voltage work in the greater Harrisburg area.
Leo Rode, past president, started to work for the company in the 1940s. Leo attended John Harris High School in the mornings and walked to work in the afternoons as part of the school's vo-tech program. After graduation and four years serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Leo returned to work and eventually bought the business. In 1954 he branched out from the motor shop and started the Commercial Electrical Construction shop, General Electrical Service Company. Leo successfully ran both businesses until his death in 1999.
His son Michael Rode graduated from St. Leo College in Tampa, Florida and began working for the company in 1980. He worked his way up and is currently President and CEO. Michael's wife Karen runs the offices for both companies.
Our companies are both family owned and operated and ready to serve you with any of your commercial electrical needs.
